Welcome to St. Mary High School
St.Mary’s High School was started in 1930 by the Ranchi Jesuit Society. Simdega which is about
196 K.M. from Ranchi. Therefore, it was strongly felt the need of a High School for the education of
the Tribals and others so that their Economic development and the living stander of the people of this
area may change. And it was gradually upgraded from Primary to High School. It had to pass through
many historical development and changes of the places. It was Recognized by the Bihar Higher
Secondary Education Board in 1932. It was Registered under the Registration Act 21,1860 as
SAINT MARY’S HIGH SCHOOL, SAMTOLI 15/1959-59.After the creation of Jhakhand Later it was
declared Minority Educational institution on 19 February 1970.
St. Mary’s is a premier institution of the Simdega, imparting quality education and has remained a
center of excellence till this day. This is a minority educational institution. It has been awarded number
of times for the best results in metric results.
Jesuits of Sr. Mary’s community strongly felt the need of Inter College and even the Curia was
interested as result of which in 2003 the St. Mary’s Inter College was started. The purpose of starting
it was to serve the many more young boys and girls for their higher education.
It is the strong need and demand of the time as result of which in 2009 St. Mary’s has extended its
service with English Medium School.
Objectives
To translate the vision into action with our collaborations and lead our students to:
• Strive to produce intellectually, morally, socially and spiritually sound and committed men and women in the service of humanity and the nation.
• Empowering the less privileged students, particularly the tribal and poorer sections of the society.
